Once again, NED Summer presents active and exciting

Only in this month, July 2017, 22 volunteers in 6 missions spend their time on our projects.

The month has started, moving to the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) of Dar es Salaam, Dr. Andreas Leidinger, as beneficiary of the grant/contract offered by the Weill Cornell University Medicine Department of Neurological Surgery and NED Foundation.

Dr. Leidinger, after spending 4 months in the MOI, will leave for Zanzibar to spend another 4 months in the Mnazi Mmoja NED Surgical Institute of Zanzibar (Tanzania)

We will inform you in detail of Dr. Leidinger’s journey, to which we wish him all the strength and luck for this path.

We continue with the first Neurosurgical mission to the Consolata Hospital Mathari located in Nyeri (Kenya) after the stay of Dr. Fabio Spanu

It is composed by Dr. José Mª Torres Campa-Santamarina (Neurosurgeon and coordinator), Dr. Esperanza Arcas Navarrete (Neurosurgeon), Dr. Enrique Fernández Torres (Military Medical), and Ms. Laura García Rigueras (Nurse)

We wish them success in their mission.

Almost simultaneously, a new multidisciplinary mission traveled at the Mnazi Mmoja NED Surgical Institute, where new specialties are participating that will soon be incorporated into our projects.

The above mentioned Mission is coordinated by Dr. José Piquer Belloch (Neurosurgeon), with Dr. Javier Colomina Rodríguez (Microbiologist), Dr. Rocío Falcón Abad (Microbiologist), Dr. Beatriz Boscá Martínez (Family Doctor), Dr. Lola Navarro Pérez (Neurorehabilitator), Ms. Aitana López García (Nurse) and medical students: Ms. Carmen Arveras Martínez, Mr. Gonzalo Botella Casas and Mr. José Luis López Guillén.

They have also traveled as participants in the Foundation ICU project o, Dr. Olga González Alemán (Intensivist), Dr. Sara Álvarez-Ossorio Cisneros (Intensivist) and Ms. Sara Achahbar García (Nurse)

They will be joined in a few days, Dr. Rocío Aragonés (Intensivist) and Dr. Mª Mar Aguilar Diaz (Family Doctor)

And to close this July, from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville (USA), Dr. Christopher Bonfield (Neurosurgeon), Dr. Reid C. Thomson (Neurosurgeon) and Ms. Elizabeth Halley Vance (Nurse) will travel to Mnazi Mmoja NED Surgical Institute
