After an intense month of February, we started the month with two missions, which reached their respective destinations the first days of March.
Continuando con nuestro Proyecto UCI, tres voluntarias, la Dra. Olga González Alemán (Intensivista), Dª Alejandra Martínez Cuesta (Enfermera) y Dª Mª Fernanda Llamas López-Navarrete (Matrona), trabajarán en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Mnazi Mmoja Hospital hasta el próximo 19 de Marzo.
Continuing with our ICU Project, three volunteers, Dr Olga Gonzalez Aleman (Intensivist), Mrs. Alejandra Martinez Cuesta (Nurse) and Mrs. Maria Fernanda Llamas Lopez-Navarrete (Midwife), worked in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital until next March 19th.
Their work focused on carrying out activities related to the clinical care of patients admitted to the intensive care unit. Training of local health personnel.
We have continued with a Multidisciplinary mission to the Mnazi Mmoja NED Surgical Institute.
Coordinated by Dr Victor Gonzalez Gimenez (Neurosurgeon), it was composed of Dr Daniel Alegre Ruano (Neurosurgeon), Dr Maria Angeles Muñoz Miguelsanz (Pediatric Surgeon), Dr Luciano Perri (Pediatric Surgeon), Dra Marta Mariscal Gil (Anesthesiologist), Dr Helena Romagosa Jaume (Anesthesiologist), Dr Aaron Alfonso Alvarez (Anesthesiologist), Dr Nanda Llorca (Anesthesiologist) and Mrs. Natalia Lopez Aguado (Nurse).
During their stay they made: Visit of patients admitted to the general surgery unit of the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital. Consultation of pediatric surgery cases taken by the general surgery service of said hospital. Selection of patients and programming of patients to intervene. 11 pediatric surgery interventions under general anesthesia and one intervention under sedation. Instruction to the radiology service on diagnostic tests for pathology of anorectal malformations. Registration training in general surgery (Dr Rukia), case monitoring, case explanation and surgical teaching in the operating room. Postoperative monitoring of patients admitted to the ICU and in maternity.
We ended March with a new mission of the UCI Project.
Esta misión estuvo compuesta por el Coordinador del Proyecto, el Dr. Pablo Extremera Navas (Intensivista), acompañado por el Dr. Manuel Muñoz Garach (Intensivista), quienes permanecieron en Zanzíbar hasta el 6 de Abril, continuando con las actuaciones y objetivos marcados en nuestro Proyecto junto a la recogida de datos de la evolución de nuestra labor en la UCI.
This mission was made up of the Project Coordinator, Dr Pablo Extremera Navas (Intensivist), accompanied by Dr Manuel Muñoz Garach (Intensivist), who remained in Zanzibar until April 6, continuing with the actions and objectives set in our Project together with the collection of data on the evolution of our work in the ICU.
