On July 16th, a new group of volunteers arrived at the Mnazi Mmoja NED Institute.
On this occasion, coordinated by Dr Jose Piquer Belloch (Neurosurgeon) together with Mrs. Mª Pilar Chisbert Genoves (Scrub Nurse) and Mrs. Tania Rey Domenech (Nurse).
In addition, 2 medical students have traveled: Mrs. Leticia Montesinos Albert and Mr. Antonio Darder Sanchez-Minget who, with this experience, have been able to validate their practices.
During their stay they carried out the review and organization of the NED warehouse material. Daily clinical session and surgical part of the day. Consultation and visit patients in the ward. Control in the room of the administration of medication, situation routes and cures. 21 surgeries are performed. Training for staff (local and students): “etiology of diagnosis”, “preparation of the patient for surgeries, surgical field, use and placement of equipment and instruments”.
Our Medical Coordinator, Dr Jose Piquer, took advantage of his visit to the Island to hold meetings with the Prime Minister to help maintain and improve different areas of the Institute and with the Engineer for the maintenance work of the Institute (especially in the rear and front).
