    The co-directors and some members of the working group of the VIU-NED Chair in Global Neuroscience and Social Change have participated in the V International Congress of Intervention and Research in Health held on February 22nd and 23rd,  2022. Specifically, they have presented the systematic review conducted to explore the neuropsychological deficits associated with paediatric hydrocephalus, in the format of an Oral Communication.

ICU MISSIONS – JANUARY 2022

  After these difficult two years, we are resuming our ICU Project. First of all, Dr Maria Colomo Gonzalez (Intensivist) has traveled to Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar (Tanzania) and will remain on the island until February 15th. Yesterday, Tuesday February 1st , Dr Pablo Extremera Navas (Intensivist), Coordinator of this Project, arrived at the Hospital and will return Spain on February 12th.

NEW VIU-NED CHAIR RESEARCH PROJECT IN GLOBAL NEUROSCIENCE AND SOCIAL CHANGE APPROVED

          The research project “Determination of the Neuropsychological profile in patients with paediatric hydrocephalus living in Zanzibar (Tanzania)” has been approved in the last call for internal research projects VIU 2021-2022. This project integrates two branches of Neurosciences such as Neuropsychology and Neurosurgery to investigate the neuropsychological factors associated with hydrocephalus, a disease especially prevalent in low-income countries.

NED STARTS 2022 WITH NEW PROJECTS

We have started 2022 full of enthusiasm! Over the next three months, the first COSECSA resident programme training three local doctors will be held at the NED Institute in Zanzibar; specialists in Neurosurgery and Intensive Care will participate in several medical missions, a neuroanatomy course will be organised in March, and we will renew the agreement for the House of Hope.
